Matrix Home Server

Recently I got sick and tired with how anti-consumer Discord is. All in on AI sloppa age verification, all OUT on securing the data they keep collecting. Back in my younger days, we were taught that your personal information is something you NEVER put on the internet.

I’ve decided to do something about this, and I’ve setup my own Matrix Home server.

You can sign up yourself too, and use my home server. I dont care as long as you aren’t a piece of shit with it.

Setup Element Link to heading

If you just want this working quickly, do this:

1. Install Element

   • Desktop: https://element.io/download
   • Android: Play Store, search for “Element”
   • iPhone: App Store, search for “Element”
   • Or use web: https://app.element.io

2. Open Element and hit Sign in

3. On the homeserver step, pick Edit / Other homeserver

4. Enter this homeserver:

   • https://shigbeard.xyz

5. Login with your Matrix account

   • Full user IDs look like: @username:shigbeard.xyz

6. Done. You are now on Matrix and free from Discord nonsense.

If registration is open, create one directly in Element by choosing Create account and using the same homeserver (https://shigbeard.xyz).

If registration is closed, ping me first and I’ll help when I’m available.
